In a release of closed-door testimony from the Fusion GPS head there was a curious claim he made about someone already dying to secure the information in the so call trump dossier, in my opinion this is getting attention (and stings a little) because of the similarity to a young DNC employee/volunteer (Seth Rich) who was murdered July 2016 in a supposed robbery gone wrong. Flipside to this murder is Julian Assange intimating and a few other WikiLeaks actors out right saying that this young man was the source of the DNC emails released on the eve of the Democrat convention. Authorities have so far been dismissive of the sensational claims about his young man being connected with WikiLeaks.
The media seem to shun this spin as well, it plays against the Russian narrative for one and maybe Assange is taking advantage of what is at the very least is a suspicious death. As background I would add Donna Brazile self-serving book sheds some light on how crooked the DNC was being run back then, I could imagine an idealistic youth taking on a quixote quest to right a wrong with the lefts at one time honored outlet for leaks. However with what is available to the public all we can say for certain is this young mans killers have not been brought to justice and I hope sometime soon his family receives peace of mind of knowing without a doubt what actually happened even if the public never finds out.
Fusion GPS was trying to feed off this back story to avoid having its records being laid bare, the nub of this argument was our confidential sources will be exposed and people will die because of their good work, what they are afraid of is the insiders on the payroll being exposed as well as Fusion GPS work for the Kremlin which may or may not be legitimate.
Do I believe this claim somebody died for the Trump Dossier? Bottom line. No. Not at all. Until proven otherwise I believe it hyperbole. Further more I doubt Dianne Feinstein believes these clams any more than I do. She probably got a call instructing her to release this transcript so another party could spin it to some purpose. If something like this happened it is very short-sighted because if this is treated with any legitimacy it begs for all of GPS records to be opened in the full light of day, the murder victim found and other potential victims protected. Fusion GPS does not want its records exposed, the point of the GPS concocting this story is to scare us away from looking behind the curtain.
One of the reasons I doubt this claim is because taken in context of the testimony it followed a line of pabulum that is so self-serving nothing that follows is credible. When big movers and shakers in the political world give testimony they are not trying to answer questions, they are not talking to you or me either, certainly not putting on a performance for the hostile side trying trip them up, they spend weeks carefully crafting their responses so their allies can throw a lifeline out to them and so their answers can be spun into talking points. Fusion GPS is in so deep with the Democrat party and DNC they share the same dirty laundry, any Democrat acting indignant on GPS behalf has to be doubted. I also don’t think the Republican outrage (except for Trump’s) is legitimate either, they were just as happy to use this information to unseat the king as anybody until it didn’t work.
If this over all line of reasoning seems too hard to fathom swap the narrative around, imagine in 2008 a foreign intelligence Dossier was “circulating” on Obama reporting his real birth certificate and nationality was discovered, other key nations knew it and are planning to extort Obama. The word of mouth leading up the election is “the intelligence very community is very concerned!” This goes one for a year before being properly investigated. During the course of discovery we found out not only was everything untrue but a “opposition research” outfit working for John McCain was behind it and that this make believe report was possibly utilized by the Bush Justice Department to get warrants to monitor the Obama campaign and transition personal. As the trickle of information continues at some point a Republican senator is releasing secret transcripts to help a counter spin operation. To top it all off the outfit which concocted the fake intel, under such scrutiny nobody could possibly withstand it, was now claiming “many Bothans died” to shut down the probe. I think most fair-minded people would wonder what the hell is going on?
We shouldn’t trust the intentions of the Republicans on this committee any more than we should believe the Democrats moral indigence at good people being dragged through the mud, none of their motivations are pure, but most of all we shouldn’t be distracted by salacious claims intended to hide bigger fish from being found.
Far as Dianne Feinstein goes I think she was used and realizes it now. Someone deep in the cogs of the Democrat political machine thought this leak would serve them well somehow. I doubt Feinstein thought twice about it, she is busy with a lot of other things probably trusting somebody else to watch for the smart political plays on her behalf. She got snookered, not for the first time either, she has been used before and it may be because she has a somewhat difficult relationship with fringe wings of the Democrat party.
