Not to take away from the controversial figure who is Donald J Trump, regardless of how you feel about him there is one thing he has done for all of us. His unexpected presidency defying all the odds has broken the iron grip held on the presidency for at least the last 70 years, perhaps longer. I do not know if those who held the grip of power were the parties themselves, the media with the narrative, maybe the corporations holding the purse stings. Perhaps an amalgamation of all three.\u00a0 Whatever the reason as a population we were told what to expect from our candidates. What was considered “presidential”. What the proper pedigree was to even be considered eligible for the job. Without fail we would be offered only two real choices for presidency neither candidate all that different from the other. Yes, there are some policy differences however the substance of what would be enacted would be virtually the same. Same kind of immigration policy, tax policy, diplomacy, domestic spying, hawkish stance of defending the country while their party holds power.<\/p>\n

By winning Trump shattered all the expectations he literally opened the job up to any of us, from any background. The imperfect populace long excluded from ever considering a position above our station (for the moment) are finally free from the unrealistic expectations imposed upon us by the upper 1% trying to control the direction of the country.<\/p>\n

Problem with a two-party system is once it is as old of our system is these political parties are entrenched in power and those who seek the power that only the control of a nation can offer. We are told it is for our own good when in reality it is for theirs. What I would like to see is more common sense candidates of the people who will put the needs population first over the will of the corporations and plutocrats. Imperfect people who never would have been considered before, people from all walks of life who before now would have never considered giving up their daily life for thankless chores in their capital. Anyway that is my dream, I would like to think it is not too far off from what the founding fathers envisioned.<\/p>\n
